The Mozambique Gas & Energy Summit 2023 which features an Exhibition kicked off in style at the prestigious Joaquim Chissano International Conference Center in Maputo.The opening ceremony set the tone for an exceptional gathering, graced by the presence of Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Carlos Zacarias. Following the inaugural festivities, attendees were privileged to witness the official exhibition opening and an enlightening tour led by Zacarias.

A pivotal moment unfolded during the third panel discussion of the summit, session 3, which delved deeply into the theme of “Energy Security and Oil and Gas Value Chain Integration: Markets, Projects, and Opportunities.” The distinguished panel, expertly moderated by Jocelyne Machevo, Summit Chair, featured luminaries such as Pascoal Mocumbi (Executive Director and Member of the Board, Commercial and New Business, ENH), Moufouadzoumi Thimotthée (General Inspector of Hydrocarbons, Ministry of Hydrocarbons of Congo), Charles Sangweni (Director General, Petroleum Upstream Regulation Authority (PURA) Tanzania), Bassem Tadros (VP Global Upstream & Operations, SASOL) and John Eva (Senior Vice President Global EPCs, Schneider Electric).

The intellectual fervour continued with the second session, titled “Innovations and Energy Technology Solutions: Leading the Industry Forward.” The session explored cutting-edge technological advancements, including wind and solar innovations, and electrolysis options propelling Mozambique’s energy transformation. Wilma Mondlane, Corporate Communications and Local Content Manager at Globeleq Energia Moçambique, guided the discussion featuring luminaries such as Michele Poggi (Managing Director, SAIPEM), Tarik Berair (Business Development Manager – Africa, Technip Energies), Marco Pellicer (Business Development Manager for Production System, SLB), Ola Williams (Energy Director for Africa, UK’s Department for Business & Trade) and Beatriz Magalhães (Mozambique Country Chief Executive, Bureau Veritas).

The crescendo of the day unfolded with the first session of the Summit, dedicated to “Global Markets Overview – Attracting Investment for the Next Phase of Energy Projects.” Once again, Jocelyne Machevo expertly moderated the panel, which included luminaries such as Estevão Pale (Chairman & CEO, ENH), Eng. Nazario Balangane (President of INP), Maxime Rabilloud (TotalEnergies Country Chair and Managing Director), Ovidio Rodolfo (VP Mozambique Country Manager, SASOL), Arne Gibbs (General Manager, ExxonMobil Mozambique Lda & General Manager) and Giorgio Vicini (Managing Director, Eni).
