World’s largest producers of mineral sands products, Kenmare Resources has suspended all mining and processing operations at Moma Titanium Minerals
The suspension follows a fatality at Moma Titanium Minerals Mine on 31 August 2020.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague and we offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends,” said Michael Carvill, Managing Director at Moma.
He said the company is conducting investigations to understand why the tragedy occurred and how to prevent it from happening again.
“The safety and wellbeing of our team are our highest priorities and we have extensive protocols in place regarding the safe operation of heavy mobile equipment,” said Carvill.
Initial investigations found that the employee, a front-end loader operator, suffered a fatal crush injury during the night shift at Wet Concentrator Plant (WCP) A’s dry mining operations.
